Appendix B — Options reference & factory defaults

Every item in Options, grouped as on screen. “Default” is the factory value of a fresh install (from the bundled default preset); “—” means the row is an action or the value lives on the camera body.

Movie recording destination

Which card the camera writes video files to. If the chosen card is missing or full, the camera falls back to the other one automatically.

Custom control (list, colour picker or reorderable group).

Photo recording destination

Which card the camera saves photos to (the camera's Primary slot setting). Live from the camera. / Locked by the camera right now (for example while HDR is on) — change it on the body.

Card status

Live from the camera; refreshes every 10 s, so inserting or ejecting a card updates the row by itself. ● REC = the camera is recording to this card right now. ◉ TARGET = the next recording will go to this card.

Custom control (list, colour picker or reorderable group).

Playback cache

One cache for every camera you have connected. Opened clips and photos are kept on the phone so re-opening is instant. The limit is enforced after every download across all bodies (oldest clips are removed first); CLEAR frees everything now. FORGET removes one body's gallery — index, thumbnails and cached files — from the phone; it comes back the next time that body connects.

Live View resolution

Camera-side image size for the feed (Nikon LiveViewImageSize) — the three sizes the camera offers. Frame rate is limited by the link's round-trip time (one request per frame), not by the camera: smaller sizes answer faster. Compression changes bytes per frame, not fps. Remembered PER CAMERA (edits the live body; a first-time body starts at VGA). Multi View background windows are capped at 30 fps at any size.

ItemTypeDefault
{tr(o.label)} · {tr(o.detail)}
‹o.fps›
Choice

Live View quality

Camera-side JPEG compression of the feed (Nikon LiveViewImageCompression). Basic/Normal/Fine set the compression strength; Size priority keeps frames small and fast, Quality priority keeps more detail at the cost of bigger frames. Camera default is Basic – Size priority; the app ships with Normal – Size priority. Size and compression are remembered PER CAMERA — the setting always edits the live body; make a background window live first to change its camera.

ItemTypeDefault

Feed smoothing

Jitter-buffered, display-synced frame presentation (~1 frame of added latency). OFF by default — enable if the live feed looks uneven on your network.

ItemTypeDefault
Smooth feed presentationSwitch—
lv_smooth

Adaptive quality

When the Wi-Fi link can't carry your chosen Live View quality (fast pans, detail-heavy scenes, slow links), the app temporarily steps the camera's preview down — compression first (Fine → Normal → Basic), then size (XGA → VGA → QVGA) — to hold the frame rate, and restores your settings once the link recovers. Off by default (also after a reset); applies to the live camera.

ItemTypeDefault
Adaptive Live View qualitySwitchOff

Sensor-paced polling

The camera refreshes its preview at the sensor frame rate; asking faster only re-downloads the same picture. When enabled, the app locks its requests to the camera's frame rate or an exact fraction of it (50 → 25 or 16.7 fps, 60 → 30 or 20 fps, 24 → 24 fps), picked from the link's speed, so every shown frame advances the same number of sensor frames — a steady cadence instead of a beat pattern, and no airtime spent on duplicates. Where the link cannot carry even a third of the sensor rate (under 16 fps) the feed stays unpaced. Off by default.

Preview sharpening

Client-side unsharp mask applied on the phone before display. Counters the slightly soft look of the camera's compressed Wi-Fi preview. Does NOT affect the camera itself or any recorded footage. Set to 0% for the raw camera image.

ItemTypeDefault
Sharpness {sharpPct}%Row—

Camera name

Stored for this body (‹activeInfo?.name ?? tr("camera")›) — the name follows the physical camera across slots and sessions. Leave empty to use the name read from the body. / Shown in the Monitor top banner. Leave empty to use the name read from the camera body. Connect a camera to give it its own name.

Haptics

Two classes, set separately. TAPS & TOGGLES = the tick you feel on buttons, chips, tabs, menu rows and tool toggles. CAMERA CONFIRMATIONS = the Success / Warning buzz when the camera accepts or refuses a change (program, codec, tap-AF, eye switch, Body Control writes, connection). Off mutes only that class; Light replaces the iOS pattern with a single soft tap; Strong adds a heavy tap. All settings travel with presets. If TEST does nothing: iOS Settings ▸ Sounds & Haptics ▸ System Haptics and Accessibility ▸ Touch ▸ Vibration must be ON.
